Accessibility Statement

We want this site to be usable by everyone, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation or magnification.

What we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA. We say “aim to meet” rather than claiming certification, because no site should claim conformance it has not had independently audited.

What is in place

  • A skip link on every page, and a single main landmark.
  • Navigation that works by keyboard, opens and closes with the keyboard, closes with Escape, and reports its state to screen readers.
  • A navigation menu at every screen width — there is no width at which the menu disappears.
  • Visible focus indicators throughout.
  • Labelled form fields, with errors announced and shown next to the field they belong to.
  • Small text at a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1.
  • Alt text on photographs, and a text list of every place shown on a map.
  • Reduced-motion support: the rotating homepage photograph stops for visitors who ask for less motion.

Known limitations

  • Interactive maps are difficult to use with a screen reader. Every map is accompanied by the same places as text.
  • Some photographs contributed by venues may have weaker alt text than our own.
  • The site is currently in English only. Other languages follow in a later phase.

Tell us

If something here blocks you, please write to support@asia.travel and say what you were trying to do and what got in the way. We treat accessibility reports as faults, not feature requests, and we will tell you what we are doing about it.
