Weather across Asia
Asia spans the equator to the Arctic, so “the best time to visit Asia” is not a question with one answer.
The broad patterns
- Southeast and South Asia are shaped by monsoons; the wet season differs between coasts of the same country, so a rainy month in one place can be the dry season a few hundred kilometres away.
- The Gulf and much of West Asia have very hot summers, which makes the cooler months the main visitor season.
- East Asia has four distinct seasons, with a rainy season in early summer in Japan and Korea, and typhoons from summer into autumn.
- Central Asia and northern Asia have continental climates: hot summers and genuinely cold winters.
- The Himalayas and other high mountains have their own seasons, driven by altitude and snow rather than the calendar.
Each country page carries a weather summary and a best-time-to-visit note. Month-by-month climate data pages arrive in Phase 2.
