Accessible travel in Asia
Accessibility varies enormously, sometimes between two cities in the same country.
What to check
- Newer metro systems in the region are generally step-free; older networks and street-level infrastructure often are not.
- Airport assistance should be booked with the airline, usually at least 48 hours ahead.
- Confirm accessible room details directly with a hotel. A property described as accessible does not always mean step-free throughout.
- Pavements, kerb cuts and crossings are the most common obstacle, more so than the attractions themselves.
Listings here carry a step-free access flag where we have been able to confirm it. Where the flag is absent, we have not confirmed it either way — please check with the venue.
